Doç. Dr. Oğuzhan BİLGİN

Director of Diplomacy Foundation
He has completed the Middle East Technical University Sociology Department Undergraduate Program in 2007, and the Social Policy Master Program of the same university in 2010. He completed his doctorate in Political Science at the University of York in the UK in 2015. Assoc. Dr Oğuzhan Bilgin, who is currently working as a faculty member at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, works on topics such as Turkish Conservatism, Turkish Nationalism, Social Classes, Sociology of Culture, Modernization, Turkish Political Life, Turkish Foreign Policy and Cultural Diplomacy.

She earned her degree in political science and international relations from Yeditepe University's French Department in 2015. She attended the Sorbonne University in Paris to study French. She finished her internship at the Prime Ministry Press and Information Directorate and Public Diplomacy Coordinator. She coordinated international civil diplomacy programs in multiple countries, including France, Belgium, and Armenia, between 2012 and 2016. She performed volunteer work for a number of non-governmental organizations. She is still pursuing her master's degree at Üsküdar University's Department of International Relations and her second undergraduate degree at Istanbul University's Department of Sociology.

Doç. Dr. Şuay Nilhan AÇIKALIN

Diplomacy Foundation International Affairs Specialist
She received her master's degree from Bilkent University Department of International Relations in 2012 and from the Department of International Relations at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2015 with her thesis titled "Leadership in Chaos: Angela Merkel and the Euro Crisis". She has received his doctorate degree again at METU International Relations Department with the study titled "Political Leadership and Foreign Policy: Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Angela Merkel" in 2020. She has been a visiting fellow at Lancaster University in England and Humboldt Universitat zu Berlin in Germany via the Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme. Currently, she is working as a Doctor Academic Member in the Department of International Relations at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University. Dr Açıkalın conducts studies on the subjects such as leadership, chaos and complexity theory, Turkey-EU relations, women and girls in migration studies, Turkish Foreign Policy, as well as diplomacy in theory and practice. Şuay Nilhan Açıkalın, who is the author of the book titled "Leader Diplomacy in Turkish-German Relationships", is also interested in gastro diplomacy, fashion diplomacy and city diplomacy.


In 2018, she completed the Undergraduate Program of the Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Istanbul University. She has completed the Camp Leaders Capacity Building Training and Volunteer Camp Leadership Training of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Republic of Türkiye, and still works as a leader in GSB studies. She is also an AFAD trainer. She finished her thesis, "An analysis on evaluating the performance of the metropolitan municipalities disaster management in Turkey: As a sample Istanbul metropolitian municipalities" of the Master's Programme in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Marmara University. She is interested in subjects such as environment, energy, local governments and disasters.


After completing her high school education at Kadıköy Anatolian High School, she has graduated from Middle East Technical University undergraduate programmes of Sociology and Biology Departments. She has continued her education in California for one academic term, by winning the scholarship programme, which METU has a contract with Claremont Colleges in California. After graduation, she has started her career in the private sector and taken part in international projects for five years approximately. In 2017, she has received a scholarship from the University of California, Los Angeles and spent two years in USA. She continues her postgraduate education at Istanbul Medeniyet University.
